SMS Instrument Roach double ended, double duty dental instrument has one end designed to form a shelf on lingual bands and carving interproximal areas on bridges, and the other end carves full cast crowns. These are ideal for carving margins and interproximal areas of wax bridges. They come in variety of sizes and styles. Roach carver is double ended instrument used to cut, smooth and carve dental waxes. At first glance, it appears to look like a wax spatula. A closer look reveals a spear shaped blade at one end, with a deep welled, v small spoon at the other end. Both ends have very sharp edges. The deep welled end may also be used to carry melted wax.

Wax/Cement Spatula
A spatula is “a broad, flat, flexible blade used to mix, spread and lift material. Cement spatula also can be classified on the basic of thickness such as rigid and flexible. Their use depends on viscosity of cement and personal preference. This is a clinical instrument which we use in our daily practice, it has a wide bladed face and a long handle so that there is a big surface area to mix the liquid and the powder of cement to get an appropriate mix. And apply then into the prepared cavities to get the tooth structure back to its original state.

Agate Spatula
Agate spatula is used for mixing glass ionomer and composite resin materials in order to prevent incorporation of metal and corrosive particles in cement. this is also used to mix dental cement but it is made out of plastic, as there are cement which react with the metal of the steel spatula, mainly this spatula is used to mix GIC.

Plaster Spatula
This is a board bladed spatula which is used to mix the plaster of paris in an efficient way. There are 2 type of these spatulas. Straight and curved.
Curved spatula
This is similar to straight spatula but the only difference is that it has a slightly curved blade which helps in mixing the content of the bowl by pressing against the walls of the bowl.
