SMS Instrument orban knife 1-2 and 4 are examples of knives used for inter dental areas. These spear-shaped knives have cutting edges on both sides of the blade and are designed with either double ended or single-ended blades and knives are used for incisions that remove or recontour soft tissue. Also useful to excise interproximal tissue. It has a angled blade and contra-angled shank for posterior use. Also useful excising interproximal tissue.

Knives are used for cutting, carving and contouring various dental materials or gingival tissue during periodontal surgery.
