Mallets
A Dental Mallet are instrument with heavy-weighted ends. Mallet used to strike the chisel. Using mallet is alarming to the conscious patient, and so, it is preferred to used under GA. The engine mallet driven chisel is mounted on a hand piece and cuts bone when pressure is applied to bone and stop cutting when pressure is released. Mallet is stainless steel – strong cylindrical handle.
Mallets are a type of hammer with a large striking surface, which allows the technician to exert force over a larger are than a hammer, so as not to harm the part or component. The mallet is used to apply light blows to material that might be damaged by a heavier blow from a hammer.
Rubber mallet is used to bend sheet metal without damaging the metal. Can also be used to separate and gently knock wood joint into place.
The use of the mallet for the extraction of normally placed, as well as impacted and otherwise malposed teeth is safe and successful even in the hands of the less experienced operator. The operator using the chisel and mallet technic not only can remove all roots but also attached granulomas and other pathologic conditions.
